Is it too late for me?

Many people say "Oh, it's too late for me" or "I've done too many bad things." Let us take a look at several verses in the bible in order to find out whether or not these statements are true.

1. "...and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."
 John 6:37

Here, Jesus makes it clear that those who come to him will not be cast out. Those men and women that come to Jesus for salvation will not be turned down nor cast into hell.

2. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

Notice the word "whosoever" in the verse above. Anyone - man, woman, child, white, black, red, yellow -- whosoever. Murderers, rapists, thieves, and so forth... can all be saved. The question is, will you?
For years I knew about God and Jesus Christ. However, I wasn't saved. I had never repented. I never had a change of mind concerning sin. I had always trusted in myself or my works in order to impress God. To put it simply: I never placed my faith in Jesus Christ - and Christ alone - in order to save me. I got saved the day I repented. Oh yes, I was a horrible person due to the sins I have committed. However, the Lord forgave me of my sin.

"...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7

So when is it too late?  There are two answers. The simple one is after death. If a person dies without Christ, it's too late, as they will immediately stand before God to be judged. The second answer is a bit more difficult to explain and is certainly an eye opener for the lost and the saved.
The bible mentions a sin which is unpardonable. A sin which will cause a person to never receive forgiveness. This sin is known as blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. This sin parallels with what is known as apostasy - a total, complete, and final rejection of God. To keep it short: there was a strict group of Jews in Christ's time known as the Pharisees. At one point, a few of these men accuse Jesus Christ of casting out unclean spirtis by the power of Satan. They claimed that Christ's miracles were from Satan. When Christ was on this earth, he spent most of his time teaching and performing miracles. It was obvious to all that followed Jesus -- that he was not only a great man, but the power of God accompanied him. What's more, it became evident that Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of prophecies and the messiah. Despite all the wonderful things that Jesus Christ did -- despite many of these things witnessed by the Pharisees, two managed to accuse Jesus of doing such things by the power of satan. The book of Mark makes blasphemy of the Holy Ghost clear by stating "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." Mark 3:29-30

Understand one thing: these men were accusing the Holy and righteous God of being in league with the devil. Some who are reading this might be troubled or even be afraid. But let me assure you, if you're afraid, I honestly doubt you've even come close to committing such an awful sin. God wants both the saved and the lost to be motivated by such warnings. If you're saved - you can never commit this sin. The bible clearly states "hath never forgiveness". If you've received forgiveness for your sins, you can never lose that. If a person were to commit this unpardonable sin, they would never have forgiveness, nor would they have ever obtained it to begin with.

Take comfort in this verse: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 Salvation can never be lost. Salvation is for eternity and your security depends on God, not what a person may or may not do in their life times. Salvation is a gift: all you need to do is accept that gift.
